What is the ADNOC Scholarship Programme
The ADNOC Scholarship Programme is a long‑standing initiative established in 1974 to support higher education for talented UAE nationals. Its aim is to prepare and nurture future generations of skilled professionals in disciplines that align with the industrial and economic goals of ADNOC and the UAE.
What the Scholarship Supports — Benefits to Recipients
The programme provides support for undergraduate and postgraduate studies at institutions within the UAE or abroad. Benefits typically include tuition‑fee support, help with living expenses, and additional rewards or incentives for excellent performance. Scholars also gain access to a dedicated scholarship portal and support throughout their academic studies.
Who Can Apply — Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must be UAE nationals. To apply for undergraduate funding, candidates generally need a high school certificate (or equivalent) with high academic achievement: for studies within the UAE a strong grade average (often 85% or higher in science/math subjects) is required; for overseas study, even higher standards are often expected. For overseas study applicants, proficiency in English (e.g. IELTS or equivalent) is usually required. Applicants need to have a conditional offer from an approved university in a field covered by ADNOC, such as engineering, geosciences, energy & sustainability, computer or data sciences, or other approved technical and academic disciplines. Medical fitness and absence of conflicting obligations (for example national service) may also be required.
Application & Selection Process
Prospective students must submit proof of acceptance from an approved university and meet the academic and eligibility criteria. The selection process is competitive and includes evaluation of academic track record, the chosen course of study, and possibly medical and other assessments. Once selected, recipients are monitored to ensure they maintain high academic standards during their studies.
Purpose & Strategic Role
The ADNOC Scholarship Programme is part of ADNOC’s broader commitment to building a strong, knowledge‑based workforce in the UAE. By investing in education — especially in technical, engineering, and science disciplines — ADNOC aims to ensure availability of qualified professionals to support the oil and gas industry as well as emerging sectors, aligning with the country’s long-term economic development goals.
